Helping Africa

In Room Five we have been learning about the water problem in Africa. Did you know that half of the world's hospital beds are filled with people suffering from a water-related disease, that means because they don't have clean water they get really sick! Just Washing hands with soap and water helps lessen diarrhea deaths by more than 40%
Room Five think they should become a social organisation that help the people in Africa get enough water to wash their hands.
We are going to create a device that will work in Africa to wash a families hands for one day. That means less trips to the well and more time for education.
The device must........
  • Have soap
  • Have water
  • It must be able to work in Africa
  • It must have a container that will hold at least a liter of water
  • It must be cost effective- People in Africa will not have much money
  • It needs to have somewhere for the excess water to go
We have done some research and have come up with a rather cool device. Keep watching this space to find out what it is.

Room 5 Future Footprints

We are learning about how to create a positive digital footprint. A digital footprint is the mark we leave every time we go online. We have been imagining what we want our digital foot print to look like in ten years time. Would you like to see our future footprints? Have a look at the slideshow below.

New Learning

A lot of new learning in Room 5 this morning. We have been learning to log into our Google Apps, organise our documents and find our way around our new class Google Site. Mrs Richardson has created the Room 5 site to organise our learning. Click here to view our class site.

Today we were also learning how to decide what information we will be sharing about ourselves online so we can begin to create a positive digital footprint. We are writing a personal profile for our blogs. Next week we will be posting these on our individual blogs so please come back and visit and leave a comment.
