Market Fair

Today Room Five talked about markets. We are thinking about what we can do for Mission Day here at school to raise money for people in need. Here is our brainstorm that started our inquiry unit.

Water in Africa Video- Greshka

WALT teach people why clean water in Africa is important. We read a story of the Education in Africa and we have to retell the story by making a video. I know I have taught the people why clean water in Africa is important by making a video. This is a video me, Kolio, Ingrid, and Avishek made:

Wash Those Hands- By Anna

We are learning to discover why it is so important to wash our hands and how much water we use we use doing so. I have learned this lesson when I tell people why it is so important like I would tell them "it is important to wash your hands because if you don't you tons of germs will be spreading around". This presentation that you are about to watch is a presentation created by my two best friends Greshka and Elaine and me about how to wash your hands.

Orienteering- Celeste

 In Room 5 we had fun learning how to play orienteering . The coach's name's were Leon and Irene. Orienteering is a game when you have to pick if you go on your own or go with a partner. I know that I have achieved my map by following skills when I know where it go and when the map tells you to stop. You have to stop and you will be at the destination. This picture tell you went to every stop on the map.

Sketching - Ella Marie

In Room 5 we are learning to sketch using a pencil. First we watched how to sketch because a lot of us did not know how too. Then we  got given a sketching pencil to use while we were working. I sketched  light to dark and sketched four lines down.

Wheel - By Falou

We been learning how to make synonym wheel because we want to make our work more exciting. We had to make a synonym wheel that changed a boring word into exciting words. I changed fun into action.

WALT blend colors using pastel and to sketch sea animals using a pencil. If you can see the little picture underneath it's what I did in my book. It took a lot of hard work and a very long time it make them. I also did abundance of little animals in the border.

In Room 5 We have been learning to do our Maori Mihi. I know I can this when I can introduce Myself in English and Maori.

Last week, Room 5 were learning how to use smart commenting top tips. We drew or took a snapshot of how to use top tips. We had to put use positive comments or specific comments on the other school's blogs. This is my poster.

Hand Washing Hang ups

WALT write a song about how to wash hands properly.

We have been learning about how we wash hands. I know that I have learned this by making a song that can teach how you wash your hands. This songs are good for you, it can teach you how you wash your hands properly, and how you keep germs away.

Rhyme Washing.

Wash hands well each day to keep germs away

scrub with soap and water,

and be on your way.

always do that ok,

never stooop each day,

even if you don’t want to,

its gooood for you.

Steps For Washing Hands (rap ) 

Step 1.   Can you turn on the tap.

Step 2.   Put the soap on your hands.

Step 3.   You better rub your hands.

Step 4.  Sing the birthday song.

Step 5. Get the soap away.

Step 6 Can you turn of the tap.

Step 7 Dry your hands.

Step 8 You better do that.

Here's to my teacher that makes good choices, that stops loud epic noises.
She loves Room 5, she's even polite.
My teacher tells good things on parent interview,
that means she loves us even when we are only a few.
She is the best teacher ever,
and we will love her forever.
I like to do homework.
Sometimes she helps me do my work.
This is for her, she makes me fell better.

Wow! What a term. We have been learning so much in Room Five. We have learnt all about the scarcity of water in Africa. We know the importance of washing our hands and that it takes 10 liters to wash your hands properly. That is hard for the people in Africa because they walk so far to get the water. So, we made a tippy tap. This is our tippy tap!
